Washington State Tops Denver, 4-0

The Denver Pioneers women's tennis team (2-0, 0-0) was swept by Washington State on their first day of the ITA Kick Off on Saturday. The 4-0 loss lands the Pioneers a meeting with USF on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 12 p.m. MT. 

Washington State took the doubles point to start the match, then dispatched Denver with three sweeps in singles play. Tatum Burger managed to force No. 103 Melisa Ates to a tie breaker in the second set at #5, but she ultimately fell 6-2, 7-6 (2).
