DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team has added rising-junior transfer
Sofia Mavor for the 2026-27 season, head coach
Paul Wardlaw announced on Thursday.
Mavor began her collegiate tennis career at the Air Force Academy, wracking up 26 singles and 30 doubles wins during her first two seasons. During the recently-completed 2025-26 season, the sophomore from Yarmouth, Maine, split time primarily across Nos. 3 and 4 singles for the Falcons but added one appearance at No. 1 and six more at No. 2. She played the majority of this past season at No. 1 doubles and achieved a career high national doubles ranking of No. 64.
As a freshman, she won the "Charlie" singles bracket at the Bedford Cup in the Mountains, and she collected Academic All-Mountain West honors for the 2025 season.
Mavor is the second transfer pick up for Denver this season, joining graduate transfer
Paulina Jurkowska, who comes to DU with one more year of eligibility after spending four years at Delaware. DU will welcome four newcomers in total for the 2026-27 season, also adding freshmen
Caroline Daugherty and
Frankie Tye.
Denver, which finished the 2025-26 season ranked No. 69 nationally, is preparing to make the change to the West Coast Conference, becoming a member on July 1, 2026. The transition comes after DU won its 12 consecutive Summit League title in 2026, claiming the championship in every year that the tournament was held since joining the league in 2013-14. Denver was a perfect 71-0 in league play while a member of the Summit League.
