DENVER – The University of Denver men's basketball couldn't take advantage of a quick start, falling 83-75 to Northern Colorado in Hamilton Gymnasium on Wednesday.

Jase Townsend poured in a career-high 33 points in the loss, the most by a Pioneer since 42 from
Ade Murkey back on Feb. 14 this year.

Robert Jones recorded 15 points and six rebounds.
- Pioneers had a season-high 11 steals in the contest.

A layup from Bodie Hume with 1:29 left in regulation, putting the Bears up 75-68.
As it Happened:
First Half:
The Crimson and Gold opened with a flurry, racing out to an 18-5 start after a basket from Eastmond at the 12:04 mark. UNC, though, responded with a game-changing 35-14 run the rest of the half to take a 40-32 advantage into the break.
Second Half:
Second half saw Townsend really go to work, helping pull Denver to within one at 58-57 after scoring his 22nd point on a layup with 6:32 left in regulation. Northern Colorado responded by getting timely baskets, including a big one from Hume at 1:29 to make it a three-possession game and never let DU challenge from there.
