DENVER - The No. 6 Denver Pioneers hockey team (19-8-5, 9-7-4-3) is set for its final road trip of the regular season, a two-game series at St. Cloud State. Puck drop is set for 6:37 p.m. MT on Friday from the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
 
DENVER: LAST SERIES

• Friday: The Pioneers snapped their four-game losing streak and scored the most goals in a game since Feb. 25, 2017 vs. St. Cloud State. Tyler Ward scored a first-period hat trick
• Saturday: Denver scored seven-goals for the second straight night, marking the first time the Pioneers have scored seven or more goals on consecutive nights since Feb. 13-14, 2004 vs. Minnesota State (7-1 W, 9-7 W)
• Cole Guttman led the Crimson & Gold with three goals and three assists
• Denver went 5/9 on the power play and 7/7 on the penalty kill
 
RACE FOR HOME-ICE ADVANTAGE
• The top four teams in the NCHC standings host a best-of-three first-round series on March 13-15
• Denver is 4th in the NCHC standings, one point behind Western Michigan (3rd) and four points in front of St. Cloud State (5th) with four games remaining in the regular season. The Pioneers' magic number to secure home-ice advantage in the first round of the NCHC playoffs outright is 9 between Denver points earned and fifth-place team points lost for the remainder of the season
• The Pioneers have had home-ice advantage for the first round of the conference playoffs for 16 of the last 20 seasons, including each of the last five. Since 1999-00, Denver is 12-4 in advancing to the second round of the conference tournament when hosting a first-round series and 10-1 in the last 11 seasons

• St. Cloud State is on a five-game unbeaten streak (3-0-2) after tying and beating then-No. 1 North Dakota (3-3 T, 2-1 W) last weekend
• The Huskies have upsets against then-No. 1 North Dakota (Feb. 22), then-No. 8 Minnesota Duluth (Jan. 17-18) and then-No. 2 Minnesota State (Dec. 28)
• Easton Brodzinski leads St. Cloud State with 25 points (12-13-25) 
• In the last five games, the Huskies have allowed an average of 1.60 goals against per game and their penalty kill is operating at 94.1% (16/17)

•  The Chicago Blackhawks acquired Slava Demin goaltender Malcolm Subban and second-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft in exchange for Robin Lehner and Martins Dzierkals. The Vegas Golden Knights drafted Demin in the fourth round of the 2018 NHL Draft

• Former head coach George Gwozdecky was named among 12 inductees for the 2020 Denver Athletic Hall of Fame class to be honored on campus May 16, 2020
• Gwozdecky posted a 443-267-64 record with the Pioneers from 1994-2013, winning back-to-back National Championships in 2004 & 2005, three WCHA regular-season titles, four WCHA playoff titles and posting 16 20-win seasons. He received the Spencer Penrose Award as National Coach of the Year in 2005
 
70TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON
• The Pioneers are playing in their 70th Anniversary Season. Since its inaugural season in 1949, Denver has made 30 appearances in the NCAA tournament, 17 appearances in the Frozen Four and won eight National Championships, tied for the second-most titles among any college hockey program
