DENVER – The University of Denver men's basketball team come up just short despite a strong second-half effort on Saturday, falling 91-82 to Oral Roberts in Hamilton Gymnasium. The Golden Eagles picked up the series sweep with the victory.  

Significant Stats:
- Jase Townsend continued his stellar play from yesterday, finishing with a career-high 35 points.
- Sam Hines Jr. recorded his second double-double in as many days with a career-best 16 points to go with 10 rebounds.
- Oral Roberts got it done at the line, going 29-for-34.

Inside the Box Score:
- JaVonni Bickham continued his solid play off the bench, tying a season high with nine points.
- Kevin Obanor led the Golden Eagles with a team-high 25 points.
- Pioneers scored 56 points in the second half, the most for any half this year.
 
Turning Point:
A 17-3 ORU run late in the first half to take the game from tied at 21, to being down by 14 at 38-24.

As it Happened:
 
First Half:
Neither team came out quick, with Oral Roberts taking a 17-11 advantage midway through the opening half. Denver tied things up at 21-21 with a 10-4 run of its own. But it was all the Golden Eagles after that, closing out the half with a 17-5 run over the final 7:43.
 
Second Half:
The Crimson and Gold came out with energy to start the half, going on a 23-14 run to close within three after a layup from Eric Moenkhaus at the 12:59 mark made it 52-49. ORU immediately countered with an 8-0 run to push the lead back in to double figures. Denver, though, didn't go away, fighting back to within two at 68-66 after a jumper from Townsend gave him 26 in the contest. But Oral Roberts pushed away for good with a 23-16 run the rest of the way, securing the victory and season series.
 
Up Next:
Denver (1-10, 0-4 Summit League) hits the road for a two-game series at North Dakota State next week. First game is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m. MT.
