DENVER – The University of Denver women's gymnastics team is ranked No. 10 in the Week 7 Road to Nationals rankings, released on Monday.
TEAM NATIONAL RANKINGS
Overall: No. 10 (196.517 average)
Vault: No. 22 (48.938)
Bars: No. 5 (49.271)
Beam: No. 5 (49.188)
Floor: No. 17 (49.121)
This is the sixth-straight week that DU has been ranked inside the top 10 to open the season – and the 27
th in a row dating back to the Week 2 of 2019 when DU began that season.
Denver continues to hold top-five rankings on bars and beam, doing so in every week this year. The team is also ranked in the top 25 on all four events once again.
DU improved its average scores on vault and bars after Sunday's meet against West Virginia. The team posted a new season high on vault (49.100) on its way to a 196.550 team total.
INDIVIDUAL NATIONAL RANKINGS
Senior Lynnzee Brown (Kansas City, Mo.)
All-Around: No. 6 (39.506)
Vault: tie-No. 19 (9.871)
Bars: tie-No. 4 (9.908)
Floor: No. tie-No. 12 (9.900)
Freshman Abbie Thompson (Sanford, Fla.)
All-Around: No. 22 (39.300)
Freshman Rylie Mundell (Parker, Colo.)
Bars: tie-No. 8 (9.900)
Junior Alexis Vasquez (Arcadia, Calif.)
Beam: tie-No. 17 (9.875)
Brown improved her bars ranking by one spot this week while continuing to hold a top-10 ranking in the all-around. She also returned to the vault rankings after scoring a season-high 9.950 against West Virginia.
Mundell returned to competition on two events including bars where she matched her season average with a 9.900 to retain her tie for No. 8 nationally.
This is the final week that national rankings will be determined by season average. Beginning with March 1, rankings will be determined by a modified National Qualifying Score.
The University of Denver gymnastics team, presented by Your Front Range Toyota Stores, heads to Norman, Okla., for another top-10 showdown in the Big 12 Conference at No. 3 Oklahoma with Lindenwood and Texas Woman's on Friday, February 26.
