Tulsa, Oklahoma – The Denver Pioneers volleyball team earned its sixth straight win with a 3-1 victory against Oral Roberts on Monday at the Kenneth H. Cooper Aerobics Center.
Turning Point
The Pioneers' run to take the lead late in the third set put them in control of the match at a crucial moment.
1st Set
Denver took the first set with 14 kills, a .353 hitting percentage and only two errors. Oral Roberts struggled to find offense with nine kills, seven errors and a .061 hitting percentage.
2nd Set
The Pioneers' .069 hitting percentage failed to compare to the Golden Eagles' .278. The set was last tied at 19-19. Oral Roberts withstood a two-point push back at 24-21 before winning the set-clinching point on a service error.
3rd Set
The Golden Eagles led by four points at 18-14 before the Pioneers rallied on a five-point run to take control of the set. Seven blocks helped Denver to a 2-1 lead in the match.
Fourth Set
ORU led from 12-11 before the Pioneers crawled back to take the lead and force a timeout at 20-19. Denver won the next two points after that stoppage and rolled to another win.
