Inside the Round:
Zanusso showed she was up for the challenge on a day of tough conditions, coming out the gate with three straight pars to start. She shook off a bogey on No. 4 to run off three more pars before her second bogey on the front nine at the eighth hole. But the sophomore continued to fight, getting a par on to close out front nine at 2-over.
The Italy native opened strong on the back nine, going with three straight pars to start. Zanusso fought through a rough spot after going 3-over in a three-hole span on holes 13-15 by running off three pars to end her day and tournament.
Quotes from Head Coach Lindsay Kuhle:
"Anna played very consistent the last two days and struck the ball very well especially the first day. Unfortunately. she just didn't get many putts to fall. She misses a 6 footer on 16 and three putted a 20 footer on 17 and missed a 12 footer on 18 the first round that could have changed the momentum and her confidence."
"Today, she just didn't hit many shots close enough to convert birdies and it was more windy today and challenging."
"I'm extremely proud of how she represented DU and our program and university. She is a competitor and class act and to compete in this field is special and something she will always remember."
Up Next:
Zanusso rejoins the Pioneers as they are set to compete in the Dick McGuire Invitational on Apr. 11.
