DENVER – University of Denver Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer
Stu Halsall was named the Region 2 Administrator of the Year, the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association announced on Wednesday.
Halsall was essential in guiding the Division of Athletics & Recreation through the challenges of COVID-19. As the primary sport administrator for gymnastics, he helped ensure the team was able to compete in all of its scheduled competitions in 2021 while setting school records along the way including winning the program's first-ever Big 12 Championship.
Under his leadership, the Daniel L. Ritchie Center for Sports & Wellness – which is home to the gymnastics team's training and competition facilities – received 5-Star Certification from the City and County of Denver, which requires additional safety and health protocols beyond what is required by local public health orders. Among the successes of the 5-Star Certification and the COVID-19 protocols implemented was allowing the gymnastics team to have a limited number of fans at its final two home meets.
Halsall was also named the Region 2 Administrator of the Year in 2020.
