Denver Hockey Sets 2021-22 Non-Conference Slate

The Pioneers announce 10-game non-conference schedule; highlighted by home and home series with Arizona State and a trip to Providence and Boston College

DENVER – The University of Denver hockey program has set its 10-game non-conference schedule for the 2021-22 season, Richard and Kitzia Goodman Head Hockey Coach David Carle announced on Wednesday.

DU's non-conference schedule rounds out a 34-game slate set for the 2021-22 academic year.

Denver will open the regular season against Arizona State October 8-9 at Magness Arena, a series that will serve as the Crimson and Gold's Homecoming Weekend. The Pioneers are 2-1-1 all-time against the Sun Devils, sweeping the series inside Magness in 2016-17, before dropping the opener and tying the finale in the 2019-20 series in Arizona.

The Pioneers will play a home and home with Air Force the following weekend before a trip out east to take on Providence on October 22 and Boston College on October 23. Denver's home game in the Air Force series on October 16 will serve as the University's Hall of Fame night.

DU is 38-4-1 against Air Force, having won the last four contests, including a 4-1 win when the programs met on October 12, 2018. The Pioneers are 19-15 against Boston College, having won each of the last three meetings including a 2019-20 sweep at Magness Arena. Denver is 7-9-3 against Providence. Denver went 1-0-1 against the Friars in Magness Arena in the Fall of 2018, the last time the two programs met.

Following three-consecutive NCHC weekends, the Pioneers will step back out of conference play for a December trip to Arizona State to complete a four-game season-series with the Sun Devils.

After a trip to Duluth, the Pioneers will close out non-conference play by ending 2021 and starting 2022 with a series against Alaska Fairbanks. Denver is 8-2-1 against Fairbanks and unbeaten in seven of the last eight. The Pioneers swept the series in Alaska in the fall of 2019.
