Jack and Sheila Weinberg Head Men's Soccer Coach Jamie Franks:
Jamie Franks is in his seventh season as the bench boss for the Pioneers and his 10th on the Denver campus overall. The head coach of the 2016 National Coaching Staff of the Year has put together a 75-27-14 record and has led Denver to all but two of the league trophies available (2019 regular season and 2017 postseason) since Denver joined the Summit League in 2013.

Series History: Denver vs. Cal State Fullerton:
The Pioneers are 2-3-0 all-time against Cal State Fullerton. Sunday marks just the second meeting between the two teams in Denver, with the Pioneers taking the previous encounter in the Mile High City by a count of 4-1 in 2008. The following year, the Pioneers won 2-1 in extra time in Fullerton. Denver's three losses in the series came in Fullerton at 1999, 2000 and 2011.

Last Time Out:
The Pioneers got a first half goal from Trevor Wright on a Denver corner kick, and Denver kept its second cleansheet in the last three matches to defeat Evansville 1-0 on Friday. Denver outshot the Aces 17-6 and took nine of the 11 corners in the Pioneers home opener. DU held Evansville to just one shot on goal.

Summit League Preseason Poll:
Denver was picked second in the 2021 Summit League Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, the first time the Pioneers haven't been voted the preseason favorite since joining the league in 2013. Outside of a fourth place finish in 2019, Denver has won at least a share of the Summit League regular season title in the other seven seasons. In addition to the coaches' poll, Stefan DeLeone and Liam Johnson were named to the Summit League Men's Soccer Players to Watch List.

Notes:
-          Two-time captain Liam Johnson was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
-          Denver's freshman class was ranked the seventh-best recruiting class in the country according to Top Drawer Soccer.

Up Next:
The Pioneers return to the road for three-straight away from the University of Denver Soccer Stadium beginning next week. Denver will make the short trip down to I-25 to take on Air Force on Friday at 6 p.m. MT. Denver will then head out west to take on Gonzaga on Monday, September 20, and then the Pios will open Summit League play at Western Illinois on Saturday, September 25 at 12 p.m. MT.
