DENVER – The University of Denver men's soccer program combined for the top grade point average in the country for the fifth time in the last six seasons, United Soccer coaches announced in conjunction with its team academic award. In 2020-21, the Pioneers combined for a 3.77 grade point average to take the top spot for the second-consecutive year.
"Having the top GPA five of the past six years is an incredible honor for our program," Jack and Sheila Weinberg head men's soccer coach Jamie Franks said. "It is a credit to all the student athletes who challenged themselves in the classroom for excellence. The University of Denver is a special place. To be successful in our community, you have to take ownership of your everyday process. Our student-athletes are engaging, hard-working, and gritty. Each of them know that their grades are a direct outcome of their everyday habits and focus. I want to thank all the professors and advisors who have spent time with our young men. It takes the whole Denver community to provide the student-athlete experience and we are grateful for the people that we get to work with every day. A big shout out to Cindi, Greg, Lynn, Christina and Jason for their love and dedication to our student-athletes, we truly appreciate it."

2020-21: 3.77 (1st nationally)
2019-20: 3.74 (1st)
2018-19: 3.68 (2nd – 0.02 behind Lipscomb)
2017-18: 3.628 (1st)
2016-17: 3.619 (1st)
2015-16: 3.49 (1st)'
Denver was one of 224 men's soccer programs to earn the team academic award for having a gpa of 3.0 or better. Combined with the women's soccer program, Denver was one of 93 programs to have both their men's and women's programs recognized. The Pioneers' women's program also earned the top grade point average on the women's side, giving the Pioneers both academic awards.
