Ben Smith's second-career goal proved the difference as the junior captain's 68^th minute strike curled around the Omaha keeper to give the Pioneers a 1-0 win at Omaha on Saturday afternoon at Caniglia  Field. • Denver is 1-1 all-time against Virginia, winning the 2021 meeting in Charlottesville, courtesy of a Kengo Ohira 80^th minute leveler and Destan Norman's extra-time strike in the 96^th to send the visiting Pioneers home with a 2-1 extra time victory.    
• The Pioneers held a 13-6 edge in shots, including 6-2 on target in the meeting a year ago.
• Denver has student-athletes from 12 different states and four other countries. The 12 states represented is Denver's most on a single roster in its Division I history.
