DES MOINES, Iowa – The University of Denver men's tennis team began its final fall tournament with a 9-0 match sweep against Illinois State to open the Drake Hidden Duals on Friday. Denver then played host Drake in the evening, finishing 2-11 in a super-sized dual.
 
DU won all three doubles matches and six singles matches to start the day against Illinois State including a bagel from junior Nicolas Herrero Cuesta and sophomore Daniel Sancho Arbizu in Court-1 doubles.
 
In singles, Denver won five of its singles matches in straight sets while graduate student Conner Olsen sealed the DU sweep by winning a third-set tiebreaker.
 
Redshirt senior Anish Sriniketh won both of his singles matches, first with matching 6-2 sets against ISU and then coming back after dropping the first set against Drake. His doubles partner graduate student Mitch Johnson won his singles match against Drake, also coming back from a set down and then winning the match tiebreak.
 
Denver will wrap up its fall schedule with Day 2 of the Drake Hidden Duals, playing against Omaha on Saturday, November 12, at 11:30 a.m. MT/12:30 p.m. CT.
