Denver Women’s Basketball Heads to Wichita State Wednesday

The Pioneers look to build off Denver Classic finale win with mid-week return trip to Wichita, Kansas

DENVER  – The University of Denver women's basketball program will head to the airport for the first time in the 2022-23 season when the Pioneers return Wichita State's November, 2021, trip and head to Charles Koch Arena for the first time Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT/5 p.m. MT.  
 
The Four W's
Who: Denver (2-4, 0-0 Summit League) vs. Wichita State (5-1, 0-0 American Athletic Conference)
What: Game 7 of the 2022-23 Regular Season
Where: Charles Koch Arena (Wichita, Kan.)
When: Wednesday, November 30, 2022 – 5 p.m. MT
TV: ESPN+
 
SERIES HISTORY:
A game that was even until midway through the fourth quarter, Wichita State defeated Denver 76-61 last November in Hamilton Gymnasium. The score was tied after the first quarter before the Shockers built a five-point lead at the intermission and a six-point lead after the third. Tess Santos and Meghan Boyd hit triples to cut the Wichita State to as little as two with 8:19 to go in regulation.
 
LAST TIME OUT – Denver 60, New Mexico State 51:
Emma Smith led the Pioneers with a season-high 18 points, four rebounds and two assists. Makayla Minett chipped in eight points and added 11 rebounds, three steals and three blocks. Jojo Jones scored nine points, while pulling down six rebounds, dishing out four assists and adding a blocked shot. Mikayla Brandon nearly had her second double-double of the season, scoring eight points and pulling down nine boards. 
 
NOTES:
  • Makayla Minett enters the fourth week of the regular season averaging a double-double (10.2/10.5). Minett is one of nine players in the country currently averaging a double-double while recording at least 12 blocked shots.
  • Emma Smith is the first freshman since 2019-20 to score in double figures in her first five collegiate games.  
  • Graduate student guard Ally Haar played in her 100th career game last Friday (November 25). Haar entered the week fourth in the country in minutes per game with 38.7 minutes played per game.
