Pioneers Add Marko Lukic for Upcoming Year

Wulbrun lands 6-7 guard from Little Rock

DENVER  - University of Denver Men's Basketball head coach Jeff Wulbrun announced the signing of Marko Lukic on Monday. Lukic has signed his athletic grant and aid to continue his academic and athletic career for the Pioneers.

"We are thrilled to be welcoming Marko to our program," Wulbrun said. " He is a perfect fit to our culture; a high character young man who chases excellence in all he does, has a tireless work ethic, will be invested in team success and understands the value of a DU degree.

"At 6-7, he is a very skilled and versatile player, can score on all three levels and can defend four positions. He is an experienced and savvy college basketball player, who is a proven scorer and facilitator. We will benefit from his leadership skills, high basketball IQ and his desire and determination to put our program in position to compete for championships."

Lukic brings some size and scoring to the backcourt, having played the past three seasons at Little Rock. While with the Trojans, the 6-foot-7 guard appeared in 14 games this past year, ranking second on the team in scoring at 11.4 points per game. The native of Serbia scored at least 20 points in two games, including a season-high 25 against Jacksonville State on Dec. 21. Lukic recorded eight games in double figures in his shortened season. Lukic dialed up a big-game performance against then-10th ranked Arkansas, going for 23 points and grabbing five rebounds.

In 2020-21, he played in 25 games, making six starts. Lukic averaged 9.7 points per game that year, but got on a roll to end the year, scoring at least 11 points in the final six games of the season.

Denver will return to the hardwood in the fall to begin training for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
