STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of Denver men's golf team got the start it needed on day one of the NCAA Stockton Regional, finishing in third with a team score of 282 (6-under).
Carson Griggs led the stellar start for the Pioneers, shooting a 3-under 69 on the round.
Tournament & Course Info:
- The Reserve at Spanos Park
- Par 72
- 7,315 yards
- 14 teams
Significant Stats:
- The Pioneers made their move on the par 5s posting an 8-under on the holes, third lowest in the field.
- The Crimson and Gold also ranked third on the par 4 holes, shooting even par on the round.
- Denver's 24 birdies were the most in the opening round.
- No. 16 Stanford sits atop of the team leader board at 10-under, one shot ahead of No. 4 Arizona State.
- The top five teams will advance to the NCAA Championship at the end of round three.
Inside the Round for the Pioneers:
- Griggs closed out his round with a flurry, shooting 3-under in the final four holes to finish up tied for fifth. Overall, the senior notched seven birdies in his round.
- The trio of
Jun Ho Won,
Esteban Missura and
John Sand each finished tied for 19th at 1-under.

Jackson Solem closed out his opening round tied for 37th 1-over.
