DENVER – The University of Denver women's basketball program has added former Northern Colorado assistant
Marquelle Dent to the coaching staff, head coach
Doshia Woods announced on Monday.
"I am thrilled to have Marquelle join our staff," Woods said. "Coach Dent brings knowledge and experience that will assist us in what we're building at DU, both on and off the court. A highly decorated player and a passionate coach, she will be a great addition to our program in all aspects, and we're excited for her to get started."
Dent spent the 2021-22 season at Northern Colorado, helping the Bears to a run to the Big Sky Semifinals after a 15-16 record, including a 9-11 mark in the Big Sky. Prior to her time in Greely, Dent spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Regis University. Additionally, Dent has high school coaching experience at Cheyenne Central High School in Wyoming and with the Laramie County Golden Eagles program.
"I am beyond excited and humbled to join Coach Woods and her staff at DU," Dent said. "I want to thank Coach Woods for this opportunity, and I look forward to learning from her and the staff and continuing to help build a championship- caliber program! I can't wait to get to work!"
A 2015 WBCA Honorable Mention All-America selection in her playing career at Wyoming, Dent was a two-time All-Mountain West First Team pick and a two-time member of the conference's All-Defensive Team. Dent became the first player in Wyoming's program history to finish her career with at least 1,000 (1,337) points, 500 (514) assists and 175 (181) steals.
Dent played one season professionally in Portugal after graduating from Wyoming with a degree in Communications in 2016.
