DENVER – The University of Denver hockey program continues its celebration of its record-tying ninth national championship on Wednesday, June 1 at its 65th annual awards banquet at Magness Arena.

This year's celebrations caps off the 2021-22 season that saw the Pioneers capture their second Penrose Cup as NCHC regular-season champions and the NCAA National Championship, the program's second in five years and fourth since the turn of the century. No school has won more national titles in the last 20 seasons than Denver (2004, 2005, 2017, 2022).
Beverages and heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served throughout the evening, which also features a silent auction, autographed hockey sticks for kids and DU players and coaches in attendance.
The Pioneers will also recognize their senior class and announce this year's recipients of their team awards: Dr. Ken Bredesen Most Sportsmanlike Player, Dr. Art Mason Top Scholar-Athlete, Dr. Ralph Verploeg Most Inspirational Player Award, Barry Sharp Freshman of the Year Award, Bob Martin Community Service Award, Murray Armstrong Most Improved Player Award, Dallas Gaume Offensive Player Award, Keith Magnuson Best Defensive Player Award, Bill Masterton MVP Award and Daniel Ritchie Spirit Award.
Each member of the 2021-22 senior class recorded career highs to help lead Denver to the championship and includes

Brett Stapley,
Cameron Wright and
Kyle Mayhew, who will be returning for a fifth year at DU next season.
