[RV/RV] Denver Makes Trip to Macomb on Saturday

The Pioneers will take on Western Illinois in the final match of a stretch of six of seven away from home

DENVER – The [RV/RV] University of Denver men's soccer team heads east once again this week, this time, for a visit to Macomb to take on Western Illinois on Saturday. Kickoff on the summit League Network is set for 1 p.m. CT/12 p.m. MT.

Summit League Network:
New this year, fans can subscribe to the Summit League Network, the exclusive streaming home of all Denver men's and women's soccer home games and conference away games. For more information on the Summit League Network, click here.

Last Time Out:
Sam Bassett hit home a penalty in the opening quarter hour and Isaac Nehme made six saves to lead the Pioneers to a 1-0 win at Kansas City last Saturday night.

The Series:
Denver has a 15-1-0 edge in the series, with the only Pioneer loss coming in Macomb in 2019. Denver has outscored Western Illinois 10-4 since, including last year's 4-2 win at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium in 2022. Griffin Meyer, Holger Olsson, Lukas Fisher and Jason Belloli scored in last year's match for the Pioneers.

O'Toole's Experience:

Graduate student Aidan O'Toole played in his 79th career match on Saturday night, joining alums Reagan Dunk and Liam Johnson in a tie for seventh in Denver's record book. With an appearance on Saturday, O'Toole would tie Alex Underwood for sixth in the career record book. His next start moves him into a tie with Nic Hartman for eighth on that list.

The Franks Foundation:
Jack and Sheila Weinberg Head Men's Soccer Coach Jamie Franks is 103-35-27 as a head coach at Denver, 138-52-35 in his 12 years overall with the Pioneers and 237-79-52 in his time as a player and a coach in college soccer. Franks became the second coach in program history to reach 100 career wins on Friday night, doing so in 158 career matches.

Top-10 Program in Franks' Tenure:
Since Franks took over at the start of the 2015 season, the Pioneers have 103 wins, sitting 10th in the country in that category heading into this weekend's matches. Of the 12 teams in the country that started the year with at least 95 wins, Denver has the sixth-fewest losses at 34.

Up Next:
Denver returns home for its final midweek match of the regular season when the Pioneers welcome Omaha to the University of Denver Soccer Stadium on Wednesday at 7 p.m. MT. The match will be broadcast live on the Summit League Network.
