DENVER – The University of Denver men's basketball program will begin a two-game road swing on Sunday when the Pioneers head to Texas A&M Commerce. Tip in The Field House is set for 1 p.m. CT/12 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and 104.3 The Fan HD3.
SERIES HISTORY:
Denver won the first meeting between the two programs last year by a count of 84-75 inside Hamilton Gymnasium.
100 GAMES PLAYED:
Both fifth-year guard Tommy Bruner and graduate student transfer Jaxon Brenchley have crossed the century mark in games played in their NCAA career this season.
DOUBLE DIGIT WORKLOAD:
Tommy Bruner leads the Pioneers with 78 career games in double figures, including eight-straight contests spanning back to the end of last season. Touko Tainamo is the next closest Pioneer with 34 games in double figures, including in five of the six games for Denver this season. Bruner ranks third in the country in scoring at 24.7 points per game, while Tainamo is 49th at 19.7.
TAKING CARE OF THE BASKETBALL:
Denver has had single digit turnovers in each of the Pioneers last three contests, including five or less in the final two games of the Jaguar Classic. Denver ranks sixth in the country in turnovers per game, averaging just 8.3 per contest. Jaxon Brenchley ranks 18th in the country in assist/turnover ratio at 5.25. The Pioneers single turnover in their game at South Alabama on November 17th is the lowest in the program's Division I history.
DENVER IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS:
Denver is third in the country in free-throw attempts per game and fifth in free-throw makes per game. The Pioneers offense as a whole ranks 26th in the country at 87.3 points per contest. As a team, Denver is 21st in assist/turnover ratio at 1.72.
