DENVER – The University of Denver women's lacrosse team announced its regular-season schedule on Monday, with the Pioneers opening their 16-game slate on Friday, Feb. 9 against Louisville at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
Denver's slate includes games against five teams that finished the 2023 campaign in the top 25, including traveling to Evanston to play reigning national champion Northwestern on March 8 and hosting No. 20 Marquette on April 6.
The Pioneers open their 10-game home schedule on Friday, February 9 as Louisville visits Peter Barton Stadium. It will mark the 11
th all-time matchup between the two teams and the second in as many years, as DU defeated the Cardinals 5-4 in Louisville, Kentucky last season.
Denver will travel to Ann Arbor for a game against No. 12 Michigan before returning to Peter Barton Stadium for a three-game home stand. The Pioneers will play host to Ohio State on February 23 before they take on San Diego State and 2022 NCAA Tournament Quarterfinalist Maryland on March 2.
The Pios begin Big East play on March 24 at home versus UConn and will play host to Marquette on April 6, and Xavier on April 27 for senior day at Peter Barton Stadium. The team will play road conference outings on March 29 at Georgetown, at Butler on April 10 and Villanova on April 20.
DU will have a rematch of the 2023 NCAA Tournament Semifinal against No. 1 Northwestern in Evanston on March 8. The Huskies defeated Denver, 15-7, on their way to a national championship last season.
The Pioneers will play under the lights of Peter Barton Stadium on April 3 against in-state foe Colorado in Wednesday, April 3.
Denver has won the last three Big-East Championships and try for the fourth on May 2-4 in Ohio. The Xavier Musketeers are hosting this year's conference tournament.
The first three rounds of the NCAA Tournament are scheduled to be held at campus sites, and the 2024 NCAA Final Four is set for May 24-26 in Cary, North Carolina.
The Pioneers finished 4
th in the country in 2023 after posting a 22-1 overall record and a 17-0 regular season, helping the team make its first ever NCAA final-four appearance.
