PREVIEW: Denver Welcomes CC to Hamilton Saturday Afternoon

The Pioneers look to build on their three-game winning streak with return home this weekend

DENVER  – The University of Denver men's basketball program will open up its December schedule with a visit from Colorado College to Hamilton Gymnasium on Saturday at 1 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast on the Summit League Network and 104.3 The Fan HD3.

SERIES HISTORY:
Denver is 2-0 against Colorado College since the Pioneers turned Division I. In the overall series dating back to 1904, Colorado College has a 41-40 edge in the previous 81 meetings. Last season, Denver defeated CC 90-68 in Hamilton Gymnasium.
 
BRUNER LEADING DENVER IN NATIONAL STATISTICAL RANKINGS
Tommy Bruner ranks second in the country in points per game (24.1), 8th in free-throws made (48), fourth in field goals made (59), 22nd in three-point field goal percentage (47.4) and 14th in three-pointers made per game (3.38)…Touko Tainamo ranks fifth in free-throw attempts (62), ninth in free-throws made (47), 65th in points per game (18.8) and 48th in rebounds per game (9.0)…Jaxon Brenchley is 11th in the country in assist/turnover ratio (4.83)…Denver started Thursday 11th in the country in free-throw attempts per game (28.8) and 11th in free-throw makes per game (20.4)…As a team, the Pioneers are 48th in scoring offense (82.8), 46th in rebounds per game (41.1) and 11th in turnovers per game (8.9).
 
TAKING CARE OF THE BASKETBALL
Denver had five turnovers or less in the final two games of the Jaguar Classic, including just one in the Pioneers seven-point loss to South Alabama on November 17. Denver entered the weekend 11th in the country in turnovers per game, averaging just 8.9 turnovers per contest.
 
Denver didn't have a single game with five turnovers or less last season, and only did it once in 2021-22 (Omaha, 1/22/22). Zero turnovers in the first half of Denver's November 17 game at South Alabama was Denver's first full half without a turnover since January 19, 2013 vs. Utah State. Denver's 1 total turnover on November 17 was the lowest in DU's DI history.
 
The Pioneers have finished with single digit turnovers in four of the last five games.
 
DOUBLE DIGIT WORKLOAD:
Tommy Bruner leads the Pioneers with 80 career games in double figures, including 10-straight contests spanning back to the end of last season. Touko Tainamo is the next closest Pioneer with 36 games in double figures, including in seven of the eight games for Denver this season.
 
100 GAMES PLAYED:
Both fifth-year guard Tommy Bruner and graduate student transfer Jaxon Brenchley have crossed the century mark in games played in their NCAA career this season.
