DENVER –University of Denver men's soccer captain Ben Smith has been named to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches' Midfielders to Watch List, the coaches' association announced on Friday.
Smith captained Denver to the second round of the NCAA Tournament a year ago, playing and starting in all 21 matches. The Centennial, Colorado, native sat in-front of Denver's nationally-ranked defensive, while scoring a pair of goals on the counter.

Denver will open its preseason on Saturday when the Pioneers welcome Air Force to the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. MT Saturday.
Season Opener:
The Pioneers will open the regular season on a six-match homestand, starting with San Diego State's visit in the season opener on Thursday, August 24. The match will be streamed live on the Summit League Network.
