Denver Men and Women Picked Summit League Swim&Dive Favorites

The Pioneer women have won 10-straight Summit League titles, while the Denver men have won nine of the last 10

DENVER – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs have been selected as preseason favorites in the 2023 Summit League Preseason Poll, the league office announced on Wednesday.
 
Denver also had four student-athletes highlighted on the 2023-24 Swimmers and Divers to Watch List in Marco Nosack, Zyad Morsy, Jessica Maeda and Olivia Gordon.
 
Marco Nosack - Junior | Breast/IM | Beaverton, Ore.
• 2023 All-Summit League honors in the 800 Freestyle Relay, 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 Breaststroke, 400 Freestyle Relay
• Ranked 34th in the country in the 50 breast (25.82) last season
• Broke a league championship and overall record in the 200 IM (1:46.19) in 2023
 
Zyad Morsy – Junior | Diver | Cairo, Egypt

• Named the 2022 Summit League Men's Diver of the Year after qualified for the NCAA Championships with a 5th place finish in the platform, setting a school record in the finals session
• Placed 10th in the 3-meter (307.35/623.55 - to also qualify for the NCAA Championships), 19th in the 1-meter (263.60)
• Earned All-Summit League honors in the 1-meter and 3-meter dive and was a three-time Summit League Diver of the Week
 
Jessica Maeda – Junior | Breast/IM/Free | Tigard, Ore.
• 2023 All-Summit League Honors in the 200 Medley Relay (1:39.16), 800 Freestyle Relay (7:17.17), 200 IM (2:00.59), 100 Breaststroke (1:01.02), 400 Medley Relay (3:38.77) and 200 Breaststroke (2:12.69)
• A two-time Summit League Women's Peak Swimmer of the Week, ranked 11th in the country in the 50 breast (28.74)
• At the CSCAA National Invitational Championships, placed 3th in the 200 IM (2:01.79), part of the 400 medley relay that finished 9th (3:42.34), part of the 200 medley relay that finished 13th (1:41.97), 15th in the 100 breast (1:02.17), part of the 800 free relay that finished fifth (7:20.35), 5th in the 200 breast (2:13.70), part of the 400 free relay that finished 9th (3:22.66)
 
Olivia Gordon – Senior | Dive | Las Vegas Nev.
• Earned her second career Summit League Women's Diver of the Year after earning four Women's Peak Diver of the Year and placing 1st in the 1-meter dive (283.10) and 5th in the 3-meter dive (253.40) at the league championships
• Placed 32nd in the 1-meter (231.60), 46th in the 3-meter (210.55) at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships
 
SEASON OPENER:
Denver swimming will open its season with the Denver Relays on October 7 at 12 p.m. MT inside El Pomar Natatorium. The divers will join the swimmers at Cal Baptist from October 14-15.
