Denver Men’s Soccer Earns No. 3 Overall Seed in NCAA Tournament

The Pioneers will await the winner of Oregon State and Gardner-Webb for a second round match-up at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium on Sunday

DENVER – The University of Denver men's soccer program received the No. 3 overall seed and a bye into the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, the NCAA announced in its selection show on Monday morning.

Denver will await the winner of Thursday's first-round match-up between Oregon State and Gardner-Webb. The second-round match-up between the Pios and the first round winner will be played Sunday at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. Kickoff time is set for 1 p.m. MT. ESPN+ will have every match of the first four rounds.

The first DU students to claim tickets at the box office for Sunday's NCAA Second Round match-up will be able to do so at no cost, while supplies last, compliments of DU Athletics. Students will be able to claim one ticket with their student ID. Once that inventory has been distributed, additional student tickets will be available for $5.

Sunday's pregame tailgate will begin at 11:30 a.m. MT on the north lawn of the Ritchie Center. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

DU's No. 3 overall seed is its highest seed in program history. In 2016, the Pioneers were the No. 6 seed en-route to their first College Cup appearance. Denver's bye is its fourth with all four coming under Jack and Sheila Weinberg Head Men's Soccer Coach Jamie Franks. Denver is 6-7 in the NCAA Tournament under Franks.

The Pioneers finished 12-3-4 in their pre-NCAA Tournament schedule and are coming off a 2-1 loss to Kansas City in the Summit League Final on Saturday.

Denver earned its 14th NCAA DI bid on Monday, its 13th since rejoining Division I in 1998, its seventh-consecutive bid and its 11th in the last 12 seasons.

The Crimson and Gold are 7-11-1 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and have reached the second round in now four-consecutive seasons.
