SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – University of Denver men's soccer senior attacking midfielder Sam Bassett has been named the Summit League Male Peak Athlete of the Month for the second-consecutive month, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Bassett played and started in all seven matches during the month of October, earning seven goal contributions on two goals and five assists (nine total points). The attacking midfielder played a role in both goals in the Pios 2-0 win over league rivals Omaha on October 16, including scoring the game-winning tally. In the middle of October, Bassett was rated the No. 1 player in the country by Top Drawer Soccer in its midseason rankings. Bassett helped Denver clinch its 10th Summit League regular season title since joining the league in 2013.
UP NEXT: Denver will close out the regular season at Omaha on Saturday at 12 p.m. MT. The Pioneers will then return home on November 16 to play either Kansas City or Oral Roberts in the Summit League Final at 2 p.m. MT. Both matches will be streamed live on the Summit League Network.
