SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – University of Denver men's soccer freshman Keegan Kelly has been named the Summit League Peak Male Newcomer of the Month, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Kelly had two goals and two assists in five matches last month, and is on a four-match point streak heading into Saturday's NCAA Quarterfinal match-up with UMass at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium (1 p.m. MT | BUY TICKETS).
The Denver freshman assisted on opening goals in Denver's 2-1 win at Omaha on November 9 and in the Summit League Final against Kansas City on November 16. In the second round of the NCAA Tournament against Gardner-Webb, Kelly finished a diving header in the 24th minute to put Denver up 2-0 early in the Pioneers 3-0 victory.
In-front of a capacity crowd at DU Soccer Stadium, Kelly knocked home his fourth goal of the year in the ninth minute, the lone goal in a 1-0 win over [14] Indiana to take the Pioneers to the national quarterfinals for the third time in program history, and the first time since 2016.
Kelly is the first Pioneer in program history to score goals in back-to-back NCAA Tournament matches, and joins Andre Shinyashiki (2, 2016), Kortne Ford (2, 2016) and Kengo Ohira (2, 2021, 2022) as the only four Pioneers to score multiple goals in their NCAA Tournament careers.
