AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Denver men's soccer team's Ronan Wynne and Sam Bassett earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honors, the CSC announced Tuesday.
Wynne was tabbed to the second team, while Bassett was named to the third team. The Denver duo are the 10th and 11th men's soccer players to earn Academic All-America honors.
The 2024 Summit League Defensive Player of the Year, Wynne has a 3.79 in journalism and psychology. Wynne is the 20th Second Team Academic All-America honoree in the athletic department's history. Wynne has played and started all 22 games in the Pioneers back line, scoring two goals and adding six assists for 10 points.
An attacking midfielder that was named the Summit League Midfielder of the Year, Bassett has a 3.56 in Real Estate and Construction Management. Bassett is the 21st CSC Academic All-America Third Team honoree at DU. Bassett was previously named the top player in the country by Top Drawer Soccer's midseason player rankings. From his midfielder position, Bassett has eight goals and 13 assists for 29 total points.
UP NEXT: Denver heads to Cary, North Carolina for the national semifinals on Friday, when the third-seeded Pioneers take on Vermont. Opening kickoff is set 3 p.m. MT, and the game will be broadcast on ESPNU and ESPN+.
