LAST TIME OUT:
Denver earned just the program's second 198+ team tally with its 198.000 against Towson on February 4. Helping achieve the milestone was a school-record 49.750 on bars, just the second time DU has scored at or above the 49.7 mark on any event. The team also set a season high on beam (49.425) and matched its top floor score of the year so far (49.475).

EYE ON THE RANKINGS:
DU moved up a spot in the Road to Nationals rankings, now sitting at No. 9 with Denver's highest season average in a pre-NQS ranking (197.215). The bars squad also improves its rankings by one, now entering the top five with a 49.445 average. Denver is in the top 10 on vault and beam, and in the top 20 on floor.

Senior Jessica Hutchinson is ranked in the all-around and on all four events in the same week for the first time in her career, moving to a personal-best No. 6 in the all-around rankings. Fellow senior Rylie Mundell continues to be tied for No. 13 nationally on bars and now appears in the all-around rankings in a tie for No. 20. Freshman Madison Ulrich is No. 25 in the all-around, giving DU three nationally-ranked all-arounders in the same week for just the third time in program history and the first time since 2003. Senior Rosie Casali also moved up to a career high in the vault rankings, now tied for No. 17.

QUICK HITS:
  • Hutchinson won at least a share of four event titles against Towson, giving her 42 total in her career and moving her into DU's top 10 all-time.
    • Her personal-best 9.975 on bars on February 4 gives her career highs of 9.975 or 10.000 on three events, making her just the third DU gymnast to achieve the milestone (also Lynnzee Brown and Michelle Kasuga).
  • Against Towson, Hutchinson scored a 9.9+ on three more routines. She now owns 71 scores of 9.9+ in her career, third-most in DU history.
    • Mundell added two more 9.9+ routines in the meet as well, moving her to sixth-most in DU history with 45.
  • Sunday is the first of back-to-back meets against Iowa State – the second time in 2024 that Denver will see a Big 12 opponent in consecutive meets this season.
    • DU and ISU will compete against next week at West Virginia.
    • Denver and Oklahoma already competed in back-to-back meets on January 21 and January 26.
SCOUTING THE CYCLONES:
Iowa State is coming off a 195.550 in a second-place performance at Boise State on February 2. The Cyclones are ranked No. 22 overall and No. 16 on vault in the Road to Nationals rankings. Josie Bergstrom leads them on vault, coming in tied for No. 13 nationally on the event, while two-time Big 12 Newcomer of the Week Noelle Adams has the team's top average score on beam and floor.

This will be the 40th all-time meeting between Denver and Iowa State with DU holding a 31-8 record including a win in their most recent meeting at the 2023 Big 12 Championship (197.175-193.750). ISU last traveled to Denver for the 2022 Big 12 Championship, also a DU win (197.250-196.100). The teams' last regular-season meeting at DU was February 13, 2022, a 196.850-195.775 win for Denver.

DU and ISU will meet twice more in 2024, first next weekend at West Virginia on February 18 before again meeting at the Big 12 Championship on March 23.
