LAS VEGAS – The University of Denver men's tennis team played just one match and earned the win on the opening day of the 2025 ITA Mountain Regional Championships, hosted by UNLV, on Wednesday.
Only two Denver student-athletes saw action on Wednesday and did so only in doubles. Sophomore
Samuel Rovai and senior
Ryoma Mishiro took the court together and played the BYU brothers team H. Owen/R. Owen in the opening round, earning an 8-6 win. They will join DU's second doubles team of sophomore
Theo Coats and senior
Raffaello Papajcik in the round of 32 after Coats/Papajcik received a bye in the first round as the No. 1 seed.
Wednesday only saw singles action in qualifying. All four Pioneers in attendance at this year's tournament received direct entry into the main draw, which begins play on Thursday.
The 2025 ITA Mountain Regional Championships continues on Thursday with the start of main-draw singles play and the doubles round of 32, beginning at 9 a.m. PT/10 a.m. MT.
