Denver Men’s Tennis Completes Play at 2026 Bedford Cup

Glarner/Samuel, Beduhn/Davies each win matchups, Kotarski adds team-best fourth singles win
USAFA, Colorado – The University of Denver men's tennis team finished its first fall tournament of the year with five more wins on the third and final day of the 2026 Bedford Cup in the Mountains, hosted by the Air Force Academy, on Sunday.
The DU pairings of freshmen Roman Glarner and Rafe Samuel and sophomores Aaron Beduhn and Dylan Davies each picked up another dominant-duo win while junior Alex Kotarski nabbed a point in singles during his matchup with freshman Platon Tsarenko.
Glarner/Samuel rebounded after dropping their final doubles match of the weekend to grab two singles victories, each in a match tiebreak. After winning his first bagel set as a Pioneer to begin the match, Samuel conceded a late break in the second set, sending things to a 10-point breaker, which he claimed, 10-8. Glarner, too, won his first set before losing the second, though his match tiebreak proved lengthy, though the DU freshman ultimately prevailed, 16-14.
Beduhn/Davies picked up a third doubles win for the tournament, setting Davies up to then win his third singles match, which he did in straight sets – just as his first two singles matches also went.
Kotarski rebounded after losing in doubles with Tsarenko to begin the day and won his fourth of five total singles matches played on the weekend. He gained a late break for a 7-5 first set before his opponent retired prior to the start of the second.
Over the three-day tournament, the Pioneers went:
Beduhn: 2-2 singles, 3-1 doubles
Davies: 3-1 singles, 3-1 doubles
Glarner: 3-1 singles, 2-2 doubles
Kotarski: 4-1 singles, 1-4 doubles
Samuel: 2-2 singles, 2-2 doubles
Tsarenko: 3-2 singles, 1-4 doubles
The University of Denver men's tennis team will next play at the 2026 ITA Mountain Regional Championships, hosted by BYU, on October 6-10 where automatic berths to the NCAA Division I National Singles & Doubles Championships are on the line. DU is expected to send juniors Theo Coats and Samuel Rovai, and sophomores Davies and Ander Tarrio Ponte to the tournament.
