LAS VEGAS – The University of Denver men's tennis team saw three of its student-athletes advance in the singles main draw at the 2025 ITA Mountain Regional Championships, hosted by UNLV, on Friday.
Each of DU's victories on the tournament's third day of play came with nearly identical scorelines. No. 3-seed
Raffaello Papajcik and sophomore
Theo Coats both won their round of 32 matches with mirrored 6-4 6-3 results while No. 10-seed
Samuel Rovai bested those results with one fewer games lost in his 6-4 6-2 win. Coats' win came in an upset as he defeated the No. 8 seed Roman Venger from Utah State.
In the doubles main draw, senior
Ryoma Mishiro and Rovai fell in the round of 16 by a single break to the No. 13 seeded team of Ciobotaru/Dabas from UNM.
The 2025 ITA Mountain Regional Championships continues on Saturday with the singles round of 16 and doubles quarterfinals, beginning at 9 a.m. PT/10 a.m. MT.
