DU Men’s Tennis’ Sancho Arbizu, Papajcik Again Hold National Rankings

Denver senior, junior both extend streak of being ranked nationally in singles for fourth consecutive time

DENVER – The University of Denver men's tennis team once again has two singles players in the ITA Computerized Rankings, released on Tuesday.

Senior Daniel Sancho Arbizu continued to be ranked in the top 40, coming in at No. 39 this week while junior Raffaello Papajcik held the No. 112 spot.

Since the last singles rankings were released on March 4, Denver has only played one match after having a bye week to begin the month of March. DU claimed a 6-1 victory over Idaho State on Friday, March 14, where Sancho Arbizu and Papajcik split results in their singles matches.

Sancho Arbizu collected his 13th match of the 2025 dual season and his 22nd overall on the academic year, putting up matching 6-4 sets against ISU at No. 1 singles for his seventh consecutive win – all coming in straight sets, as has been the case for all 13 of his wins in 2025.

In his third singles match back in action, Papajcik came up just short against Idaho State at No, 2 singles, rallying back from a set down to force a decider but ultimately dropping the decision.

Both Sancho Arbizu and Papajcik have appeared in the ITA singles since the end of the 2024 fall season, peaking at No. 24 and No. 43, respectively.

The ITA Division I Men's Collegiate Tennis Rankings recognize the top 75 teams (out of 243), 125 singles players and 60 doubles teams at the NCAA Division I level.

The University of Denver men's tennis team is again on a bye week but will return to play with its Summit League opener at Illinois State on Friday, March 28.
