NICE, France – University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving associate head coach
Mark Maguire completed his first Ironman Triathlon World Championship, finishing in the top 15% (336
th) in the field of 2,535 that competed on Sunday in Nice, France.
Maguire opened the championship with the 52
nd-fastest swim in the field, completing the 2.4-mile swim in the Mediterranean Sea in 52:18, the seventh-fastest time in his age group (M30-34). Transitioning to the bike, Maguire rode 112 miles on one of the most iconic courses in the world, turning in a time of 5:55.35, ranking 374
th and 81
st in his age division in the middle segment.
After getting off the bike, Maguire ran a marathon distance (26.2 miles) in 3:21.34, the 336
th-ranked run in the world and the 77
th-fastest in his age division.
