DENVER - Freshman DS/Libero Madison Winkler was named KwikStar Summit League Defensive Player of the Week for her performance at the Into the Blue Invitational this weekend in Colorado Springs.

The Texas native recorded double-digit digs in all three matches, and a career-best 23 digs in the five-set wins over both Utah Tech and Northern Colorado. Winkler has helped the Pioneers to an 8-3 non conference record and the best start to a season under third-year head coach Megan Pendergast.

WInkler and the Pioneers open Summit League play on Thursday night at Oral Roberts.
