DENVER – Former University of Denver men's lacrosse midfielders
Jack Hannah and
Mic Kelly played for the United States national team in the first Atlas Cup this weekend in Sparks, Maryland. The four-team tournament for both men's and women's lacrosse was played in the sixes format, the format set to be used in the Olympic Games.
In total, the Pioneer duo combined for 16 goals and four assists in the 2-1 week for the United States.
Team USA defeated Puerto Rico 23-13 in the opener. Hannah scored four goals on 4-of-5 shooting, while Kelly also chipped in four points on two goals and two assists.
In the Americans five-goal loss to Canada on Saturday, Hannah scored twice and Kelly had three points on two goals and a helper.
In the finale, a seven-goal win over Haudenosaunee, Kelly had the sharp shooting day, scoring on all four of his attempts and adding a helper for a five-point day. Hannah added a pair of goals in the win.
