Saturday is Denver's annual Pink Meet to raise awareness for breast cancer. Fans are encouraged to join the team in wearing pink to the meet. DU will wear its newest pink leotard, which was donated to the team by DU Gymnastics alumna and breast cancer survivor Marci (Reaksecker) Jenkins.
Â
The meet's presenting sponsor, CommonSpirit, will also provide resources in support of the cause.
Â
LAST TIME OUT:
Denver set a new season high of 196.950 in its win at Arizona State on February 7. Along the way, DU also reset its season's best on beam with a 49.450 in the final rotation and matched its season high on beam in the first rotation.
Â
Four DU gymnasts combined to win at least a share of four of the individual titles with senior
Cecilia Cooley winning the all-around and floor outright while also sharing the beam win with freshman
Megan Aamold. Senior
Kiley Rorich and freshman
Kaitlynd Kastl also tied for first overall on bars.
Â
EYE ON THE RANKINGS:
Denver maintained its No. 18 national team ranking after increasing its season average by nearly a tenth and a half. DU also holds top-25 rankings on all four events for the first time since Week 3, led by a No. 9 ranking on floor. On beam, DU moved up two spots to No. 16, and the team also moved up into the No. 25 spot on bars. Denver rounds out the event rankings at No. 24 on vault.
Â
Cooley, who has been ranked in the top 10 on floor all season long, moved up three spots to a tie for No. 6 after scoring above a 9.900 for the fourth time through the team's first five meets at ASU.
Â
QUICK HITS:
- For the second week in a row, Aamold was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after winning her second consecutive beam title at Arizona State. She has improved her score in each of her four routines so far, eclipsing the 9.900 mark for the first time with her 9.925 last week.
- With fellow freshman Shyla Bhatia 's Newcomer of the Week nod in Week 1, DU gymnasts have won three of the five newcomer awards this year so far.
- Cooley is the fourth DU gymnast to have been ranked in the top 10 nationally on floor in every week through Week 6, joining Lynnzee Brown (2020), Nina McGee (2015, 2016) and Sasha Sullivan (2007).
- All 14 of Denver's gymnasts have competed in at least one full lineup for DU this season, and each of them have made a collegiate debut on at least one event.
- DU is expecting one of its largest crowds of the season in Saturday's meet.
- Denver set new program records for highest total attendance (28,684 in six meets) and average attendance (4,781) a season ago.
- DU has welcomed a crowd of at least 6,000 (with a capacity of 6,100) four times to Magness Arena including last year's Pink Meet against BYU with 6,050.

Arizona is coming off a third-place finish at the Metroplex Challenge on February 8 with a 195.825. Abigayle Martin helps lead the team as an all-around competitor and is tied for No. 24 nationally on beam. Teammate Emma Strom is also nationally ranked, coming in a tie for No. 24 on floor.
