Matt Brown to be Inducted into Western Lacrosse Hall of Fame

From Western Canada to the Western United States, Matt Brown has a been a staple of the game in the west
DENVER – William G. Tierney Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Matt Brown will be inducted into the Western Lacrosse Hall of Fame, presented by Adrenaline Lacrosse, in Dallas this weekend.
Growing up in Western Canada, Brown was a part of three Minto Cup National Championships with the Burnaby Lakers Junior A program. The Denver bench boss came to the Mile High City for his college lacrosse, finishing his DU carer with 113 goals and 137 total points, earning GWLL Newcomer of the Year honors and first team all-conference accolades.
Following his collegiate career, Brown was selected fifth overall in the 2005 NLL Draft before competing professionally in both the National Lacrosse League and in Major League Lacrosse.
Brown transitioned into college coaching, quickly becoming one of the most respected offensive minds in the game, helping build his alma mater into a perennial national contender. Having served on staff under previous head coach Jamie Munro, Bill Tierney named Brown his offensive coordinator when he made the move in 2010, and the two led the Pioneers to their first five Championship Weekend appearances and made Brown's DU program the first national champion in the sport with a home state that didn't share a border with the Atlantic Ocean.
In his first season as the Pioneers head man, Brown took the program back to Championship Weekend in 2024, the first appearance in seven years.
Outside of college coaching, Brown has played a key role in the Canada Lacrosse national team field program and the spreading of the box lacrosse game at the youth level here in the United States.
