The Pioneers return home Friday night to take on Tulsa
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The University of Denver men's soccer program fell to Cal Baptist 2-0 on Monday night at CBU Soccer Stadium.

Key Moments:
4' The first shot of the day came from Matteo Costa outside the Cal Baptist box. Ryan Mackay turned his body to block that shot and took the ball to the back of the head. Mackay left due to the injury, and senior David Biggers came on for an early Denver substitution.
9' Justin Ojo had the best chance of the opening 10 minutes for the home side, running at pace at the Pioneer back line before getting his shot off, but it was blocked in-front again and went in behind for a Lancers corner.
19' Off a set play on its second corner kick of the night, Adam Marsli uncorked an attempt from 25 yards out, that rattled the woodwork and bounced back into the field of play, allowing the Pioneers to clear their lines.
27' After its best spell in possession in the opening half hour, 2025 leading goal scorer Kyle McGowan took his first shot of the season, but it was well wide of Ulrik Stroem's near post.
36' Liam Jones found the first half breakthrough for Cal Baptist, running at the Denver backline and ripping his shot from outside the box and bouncing it into the bottom left corner.
44' Substitute Ian Welch flicked a bouncing ball inside the box towards the goal, and had his attempt go off a CBU defender which forced an awkward save from the Cal Baptist goalkeeper, who tipped over the bar and out for Denver's second corner of the night.
55' Ethan Orchard took Denver's first shot of the second half, but he was well high and wide of the target as the Pioneers continued to search for the leveler.
59' Grant Lund cleared an attempt off the line from Blake D'Agostino looking for the Cal Baptist second. D'Agostino had a second bite at the apple, but Kieran Hanna got his body in-front and the Pioneers cleared the ensuing corner.
73' Will King had the ball fall to his feet off a flick from McGowan to setup Denver's best chance of the night. King went to curl his attempt in the far post, but started it too wide, and it stayed wide to the right of the post.
79' Combination play in the center of the park led to Denver's next chance, but Bryce Willoughby's end product was blocked in-front by a Cal Baptist defender and out for a corner.
84' Felix Ezekwuka got in behind the Denver defense as the Pioneers were pushing for an equalizer, but Ezekwuka couldn't put his shot inside the far post.
90' With Denver committing all its numbers forward, Luis Borrero got in behind again, this time cutting it back to Blake D'Agostino, who calmy place it into the open net to double the advantage.

Denver will return home on Friday night when the Pioneers welcome Tulsa to the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. Opening kickoff on the final Friday before the start of fall quarter is set for 7 p.m. MT. The first 100 new freshmen in attendance will receive a student bracelet keychain, sponsored by Pepsi. Friday is also College Colors night, fans are encouraged to wear Crimson and Gold.
