Pioneers Sweep Sam Houston to Close Tarleton State Invitational

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The University of Denver volleyball team closed out the Tarleton State Invitational with a three-set sweep of Sam Houston on Saturday, earning a 25-23, 25-22, 26-24 victory. The win moves the Pioneers to 6-3 on the season.
LEADERS
Hailey Goebel led Denver with 13 kills while hitting .579. Katelyn Landis added six kills and hit .556, while Romi Chlebecek and Elise Hart each recorded five kills. Ilayda Eren and Lily Van Hal each finished with 18 assists, while Madison Winkler led the Pioneers with 16 digs.
HIGHLIGHTS
Denver completed the sweep with a 25-23, 25-22, 26-24 victory over Sam Houston. The Pioneers hit .213 as a team, recording 42 kills, six service aces and 51 digs in the win. Denver held a 20-14 lead in the third set before Sam Houston battled back to tie the frame at 23-23, but the Pioneers closed out the match with the final three points.
STRONGEST SET
Denver posted its strongest offensive performance in the third set, hitting .233 with 16 kills on 43 attempts. The Pioneers built a 20-14 advantage before Sam Houston rallied to tie the set at 23-23, but Denver answered with the final three points to secure the 26-24 win and complete the sweep.
