
Pioneers Fourth After 36 Holes at Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational

BOULDER, Colo. – The University of Denver men's golf team sits in fourth place at 9-under after 36 holes at the Mark Simpson-Colorado Invitational on Tuesday at Boulder Country Club.
The Pioneers opened the tournament with a 10-under team score before posting a 1-over second round to finish the day at 9-under. Denver is fourth in the 17-team field, with the final 18 holes set for Wednesday.Â
Arthur Akpinar leads the Pioneers individually, tying for 13th at 4-under after rounds of 3-under and 1-under. Jet Hernandez is tied for 16th at 3-under, while Brayden Bozak is tied for 33rd at even par. Ryder Odem and Zander Grant are both tied for 39th at 1-over.Â
Hernandez made the biggest move of the day for the Pioneers, climbing 17 spots from round one.

The Pioneers will close out the tournament Wednesday with the final 18 holes.
Les Fowler CU Individual Invitational
The Pioneers also competed at the Les Fowler CU Individual Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Bear Creek Golf Club. Dallin Delgado led Denver, finishing 11th at 4-over, while Matt Novak, Austin Hunt and Chase Kacher each tied for 16th at 8-over.Â
