COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Alexia Vogler scored five goals to lead Ohio State to a 16-3 win over Denver in women's lacrosse action Friday afternoon at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Buckeyes improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Pioneers fall to 1-6.
In the first half, OSU started out quick on two consecutive goals from Erin Andersen, who ended the contest with a hat trick. OSU jumped out on top 6-2 after the first half.
Vogler exploded in the second half, scoring four of her five goals after the intermission, while the Pioneers were held to just one second-half goal by freshman attacker Patience Baldwin (Baltimore, Md. / Vermont Academy). She also scored a goal in the first half, as did junior midfielder Dominique Cook (Morrison, Colo. / Colorado Academy).
Junior Sarah Hazard (Owings Mills, Md. / Maryvale Prep) had 15 saves in goal for the Pioneers, who end their two-game road trip this Sunday, March 25, with a 10 a.m. game at Notre Dame.
