TULSA, Okla. - Senior Yanick Dullens (Susteren, Netherlands) and junior Suzana Maksovic (Helsingborg, Sweden) captured the 2004 Women's Wilson/ITA Region V Championships doubles crown today at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Dullens and Maksovic defeated BYU's Dolly Change and Lauren Jones by default to capture the title. The second-seed Denver duo defeated third-seeded Daniela Muscolino and Carla Zabaleta of Tulsa in the semifinals, 8-6. Dullens and Maksovic also defeated Nebraska's Pamela Castellejos and Katie Garcia in the quarterfinals.
"Yanick and Suzana played outstanding tennis together," head coach Dana Young said. "Our team played really well this week and I am really proud of them."
Dulles advanced to the quarterfinals in singles and Maksovic captured the consolation singles title with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Colorado's Jessica Vanderdys.
