DENVER - Sophomore midfielder Steph Greenlees (Lake Forest, Ill.) recorded six points on five goals and an assist as the University of Denver women's lacrosse team pummeled Regis 17-6 in a non-conference game at Pioneer Field on Wed., April 14. The win snaps the Pioneers six-game losing streak and ups their season record to 4-7. The Rangers falls to 2-9.

Denver scored early and often, beginning with an unassisted goal by senior midfielder Patience Baldwin (Baltimore, Md.) with 23:04 remaining in the first half. Freshman midfielder Kate Broderick (Chantilly, Va.) registered the next two tallies, the second off a beautiful pass from Baldwin. Greenlees capped the Pioneers' 4-0 run with her first goal at the 13:56 mark.

Regis responded with three consecutive goals of its own, but it was not enough as Denver closed out the first half with two more tallies. Freshman forward Jessica Rae Lodders (Castle Rock, Colo.) got Denver back on the right track, taking a feed from freshman defender Alyssia Passavia (Stony Brook, N.Y.) and depositing it in the back of the cage. Greenlees closed out the first-half scoring with her second goal of the evening.

The second half began much like the first, with Denver in control. Broderick scored her third goal off a free position shot and Greenlees and Passavia followed with unassisted goals, giving Denver a commanding 8-3 lead with 25:51 remaining.

The Rangers would only score three more goals the rest of the contest. Greenlees (2), junior defender Crystal Jack (Kingwood, Texas) (2), Passavia, Baldwin, Broderick and freshman attacker Ann Ballantyne (Branford, Conn.) would all score in the final 25 minutes for the Pioneers. Ballantyne's goal was the first of her career.

Junior goalie Steph Schneider (Leesburg, Va.) only had to make one save in the win. Denver outshot Regis, 45-12.

The Pioneers return to action on Fri., April 16, when they play host to St. Mary's (CA) at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Field.
