NEW ORLEANS, La. - After winning the 2004 Sun Belt Conference Tennis Championships on Sunday, April 25, University of Denver head women's coach Dana Young was named the Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year, as voted by league head coaches.
Young's award marks the second-consecutive year she has won the honor. This year, she guided the Pioneers to the Sun Belt Women's Tennis Championship, breaking the 12-year reign of South Alabama. Overall, the Pioneers are 20-1 on the year and are winners of 17 straight matches.
Young is in her fourth season at the helm of the women's tennis program. In her previous three years at Denver, she posted an impressive 32-29 overall record, while leading the Pioneers to their best record (15-7) since turning NCAA Division I five years ago.
The Pioneers will be making their first-ever trip to the NCAA Division I Tennis Championships next month.
