DENVER - Senior guard DaShawn Walker (Chicago, Ill.) scored a team-high 24 points and senior forward Antonio Porch (Denver, Colo.) added 16 points, but New Orleans pulled away and topped the Pioneers, 76-66.
Denver (1-12, 0-3) cut the lead to four points with two minutes remaining in the game, but New Orleans (6-7, 3-0) scored six unanswered points to ice it.
Freshman guard Tyler Bullock (Lincoln, Neb.) scored nine points and set a career-high with four steals.
New Orleans outscored Denver 36-30 after the break, the 17th straight game the Pioneers have been outscored in the second half, dating back to last season on Feb. 18, 2006 against North Texas.
New Orleans guard Bo McCalebb, a two-time Sun Belt Player of the Week, led the Privateers with 26 points.
The Pioneers were out-rebounded 34-to25 in the game and turned the ball over 19 times.
Junior point guard Steve Wetrich (Ottumwa, Iowa) returned to the lineup after missing the previous two games and recorded three points, three rebounds and three assists. He was kept out of the games at Arkansas State and UALR after suffering a minor concussion at Northern Colorado on Dec. 10.
