Box Score

GREELEY, Colo. Senior forward David Kummer (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) had a team-high 10 points, and senior center Adam Tanner (Melbourne, Australia) pulled down a team-high six rebounds, but the Pioneers fell to Northern Colorado 64-46 on Saturday night.

“It’s tough to win on the road, and we need to work hard to get tougher so we can compete better,” head coach Joe Scott said. “Northern Colorado came out and competed, which home teams tend to do. They played well tonight.”

Northern Colorado (2-2) started the game scoring five-straight by Jefferson Mason, who scored nine of UNC’s first 11 points, and built an 11-3 lead before the first media timeout.

Denver (2-2) reeled off an eight-point run to tie the game with just under 13 minutes remaining in the first half.

The Bears followed with a nine-point run before sophomore guard Tyler Bullock (Lincoln, Neb.) drained a three-pointer. However, UNC stretched their lead to 34-23 at the half.

Both teams started slow in the second half, as the Bears stretched their lead to 12. DU cut it back to nine, but UNC went on another eight-point run during the next four minutes, extending the lead to as many of 20.

UNC’s Jabril Banks led all scorers with 19 points, shooting 7-of-9 from the field.

The Pioneers have 10 days off before hosting the University of Colorado at Magness Arena on Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. MT. It marks only the third time in 60 years that the Buffaloes will play at DU.
