BALTIMORE, Md. - Senior midfielder Kristie Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored five goals and recorded three assists, as the No. 15 DU women's lacrosse team routed UMBC, 15-2.

Junior Megan Carver (Baltimore, Md.) put Denver on the board first just over a minute into the contest off a feed from freshman Ali Flury (Arnold, Md.).

Freshman Lexi Sanders (Greenwood Village, Colo.) scored 10 minutes later, and Carver added two more, just 13 seconds apart, playing in her hometown.

A Karen Morton (Adelaide, Australia) goal gave the Pioneers (7-1) a 6-0 cushion before UMBC (3-5) got on the board with 6:14 remaining in the first half.

Leggio opened the second half on a tear, recording an unassisted hat trick within the first 4:20, and she added another pair of goals later in the half.

After getting eight points in the win over George Washington in her last game, sophomore Steph Coyne (Baltimore, Md.) had two goals and an assist against the Retrievers.

Junior goalkeeper Becky Childs (Phoenix, Md.) had nine saves while playing the entire game.

The Pioneers will play Cornell on Wednesday, Mar. 21 at 1:30 p.m. MT at a neutral site in College Park, Md.
