DENVER - Senior midfielder Kristie Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored four goals and had two assists, as the No. 17 Pioneers beat Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe St. Mary's, 20-7, at Barton Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Junior Megan Carver (Baltimore, Md.), sophomore Karen Morton (Adelaide, Australia) and sophomore Steph Coyne (Baltimore, Md.) each had two goals and a pair of assists in the game, while freshman Ali Flury (Arnold, Md.) added a hat trick and an assist.
Fifteen DU players had at least one point, including 12 with at least one goal.
Denver (13-2, 3-0) broke the game open early, as Carver sparked a 6-0 run after scoring just 29 seconds into the game.
After Jackie Spencer put St. Mary's (3-9, 0-2) on the board, the Pioneers scored five more unanswered goals, including a pair by Leggio.
The Gaels scored two goals to end the first half and one to open the second, but the Pioneers went on another run with seven unanswered goals.
Denver, which entered the contest with the second-ranked scoring offense in the country, outshot the Gaels, 41-20.The 20 goals tied for the sixth-most in DU history.
The Pioneers will enjoy a week off before facing Oregon at Barton Stadium on Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m. MT.
